World Famous Ashdown Mummers

The World Famous Ashdown Mummers have toured hostelries in the Ashdown Forest of Sussex at Christmas time with their traditional Sussex Mummers' Play. Their characters include Father Christmas, a Doctor, St George, the Turkish Knight, and various shady characters including Beelzebub.

At other times of the year they resort to performing ancient Morris-Dances mainly from the border villages in Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester but also a few selected dances from other parts of the country. They are associated with the Ashdown Forest Morris Men.
