Jack-In-The-Green Festival

Hastings, Hastings Borough

Friday-Monday over the 1st May Bank Holiday weekend
Hastings Old Town and various locations therein, East Sussex

More than 25 years old, this festival features folk music, song sessions, ceilidhs, Morris Dancers, Giants, Bogies, May Queen and the Jack-In-The-Green. There may well be storytellers wandering around carrying a staff with a placard stating "Ask me for a Story". Various events throughout the first three days culminate in the all day Procession on Monday.

Some events/locations charge a fee but many events/happenings are free so please patronise the charity collectors you see.

For more information on the festival including news, programme, maps, image galleries and history, please visit the website of the Jack-In-The-Green Festival

There is also the Jack-In-The-Green Exhibition which is open before, during and after the festival.

An important character in the festival is the bogie and you cn find out more about one of the local groups of bogies that appear at the festival from the website of the Gay Bogies.
